Production Designer Samling Prototype

Welcome to the world of production processes! In this blog article, you will learn about the role that sampling and approval samples play in this process and why they are key to effective manufacturing. Let's explore together how they can take your production to the next level.

Basic principles of sampling

Sampling is a process in which sample parts are submitted for inspection and approval. The aim is to ensure that the products meet the high requirements before they go into series production. The sampling process is an essential part of the production process and forms the basis for quality assurance and customer satisfaction.

What is a release sample?

Release samples are special sample parts that must fulfil the quality requirements. They are essential for the release of new products and serve as a reference for series production. The path to a release sample includes the documentation of product specifications, comprehensive tests and final approval by quality management. The task of quality assurance includes ensuring that all production processes meet the specified quality standards.

Initial sampling describes the first production, testing and approval of a product sample. It is the first step in the sampling process in which it is ensured that the product fulfils all specified requirements. The focus is on recognising and correcting possible errors at an early stage. With the help of the prototype produced, further versions of the samples can then be harmonised if necessary. The technical term for the sampling of initial samples is the so-called initial sample inspection.

Follow-up sampling describes all further versions of the first prototype on the way to the final product. These regular inspections are necessary to ensure quality planning and reliability of production. Follow-up sampling enables continuous improvements to be implemented in the production process. After a release sample has been discontinued, the follow-up sampling also serves to requalify the sample.

Release procedure: From the initial sample to the final release sample

The process from the initial sample to the final release sample is a multi-stage approach that requires careful planning and precise execution. In the best case scenario, the initial sample already fulfils all specified requirements, so that an additional release sample or a final release sample is not always necessary:

  1. initial sample inspection: the first part produced is thoroughly tested for the specified requirements. This includes mechanical, electrical and visual tests.

  2. documentation: all results of the initial sample test are recorded in detail in the initial sample test report. This documentation serves as the basis for series production and enables traceability and subsequent control.

  3. process adjustments: based on the results of the initial sample inspection, appropriate adjustments are made to ensure that all future parts fulfil the desired requirements in optimum quality.

  4. release test: after all adjustments have been made, further samples are produced and tested again. This step may include several follow-up samples to ensure that the quality remains consistent.

  5. final release sample: once the quality of the parts produced is assured, the final release sample is created. This serves as a reference for all future productions of the product series. Finally, the product is released.

The challenges of sampling

Sampling can often present challenges such as delays, inadequate documentation and poor communication. To avoid these risks, clear processes and the use of digital tools are essential. Powerful quality management software can provide valuable support here. Regular checks and tests are also extremely important to ensure quality. Successful implementation of these measures also requires close and effective teamwork.
